i love the retro look of the kitschy chinese art deco pinups so here's my humble homage to one. i used an actual shanghai poster for reference. the pattern on the dress and the flowers in the background were a bitch to trace. overall the most time consuming illustration i ever worked on. (two weeks on and off).i used a grungy texture on the background so it looks a little...dirty.
the black outline of the girl seems a little distracting to me...i might repost an edited version of this...just waiting for reactions

wow. wicked work there. high props to tha fact that thats all hand done. the dress looks wicked. love the background, looks very antique. and i personally dig the black outline. gives a kind-of rendered feel.
