I'm being nice here ok. I'm not bashing you. But seriously people are mad. It doesn't matter whatever you traced or not, credited or not. You're still doing wrong by not taking this down. My point is even if you copied this picture (because there's a fine line between copying and referencing) it's still as bad as tracing. Why? Because you're using someone else's hard work to get credit. If you would copy my work I definitely wouldn't be happy. Even if you did credit me you would still use my work to get praise over something I originally created. Get the picture? What you're doing is just as bad as tracing and it's basically an art theft.

damn chill down... She did credit the original creator and she is not claiming it to be her own. If she would it'd be a whole other story but she didn't so pipe down it's not art theft. It's not like she is using it to get the credit and she is not earning money with it. Anyways why the hell are you telling her this it's not your work so why would you even bother. you are really pissing me off.Β
Btw I like the drawing a lot good job! ^^

No offence but there's a proof that she traced this picture. So I don't really care what you think but proof is proof whatever you agree with it or not.

I understand if your argument was just by tracing but if she sketched and referenced it then there is no problem with calling it her work. This character is from Sword Art Online and belongs to the makers of the anime. If the original owners aren't complaining about it, why should some random artist that drew the character complain? The point is to draw what you want. Drawing without reference is actually impossible if you know how your brain works. You draw from what you see in your mind based on things you saw in life. Sure you can adapt a little but do you give god credit, because techically he created all of what you see and humans draw things they like based on his creation. Giving credit is not required its just a thing you can do if you want to.

Dude, she gets it. She said that she was sorry and promised not to do it again. She gave credit to the artist. Just leave her alone and enjoy the art. Besides even if she traced it (which I know she didn't), it's compliment enough to know that someone like their art so much that she was inspired. Just lay off and enjoy the art. And don't reply to me telling me that she traced and that it's plagiarism. She meant no harm. All she wanted to do was share.

Dude a compliment? How do you know if artist will take that as a compliment. But I wasn't rude. I was just explaining it to her. No harm to anyone right?

Rainbow-Stache In reply to MilanaMill [2013-08-27 19:58:57 +0000 UTC]
Yes, a compliment. Now don't get me wrong, but I think anyone would be mad if someone copied their art.... But in this case I believed it inspired her. At least I would take it as a compliment if someone like my art so much that they tried to recreate it. I also recognize that you weren't being rude, but there were already plenty of people telling her what you just said. Again, no harm.

I understand your point perfectly, and as I've said a lot of times now I planned to change my art since months and I've been practicing my own style for that purporse, I agree I won't be happy either. Problem is I didn't know it was another's artist work I thought it was from the officials pics (you know because it's so much sao style) so I copied it (I didn't trace but well I'm kind of tired for aguing over something like that) another problem is if I delete this there will be someone who will repost it for sure (it already happened to me with some things I hadn't even deleted ._.) and since it won't be in my gallery anymore if I report it my report will not be accepter so it's an hard situation :/ But like I said right now I'm totally not in that art of copying I've stopped and am working on my own style and trying to get used to digital too

You could use "manage deviations" and store the works, that still keep the dates as well as not exposing for more 'stolen' stuffs

Skye24 [2013-08-27 10:47:06 +0000 UTC]
Then respect the artist enough to take down this trace. You don't have permission therefore it's theft.

PrettyLittleWolf In reply to Skye24 [2013-08-27 10:54:57 +0000 UTC]
Seriously, I didn't trace I took a lot of time to do this, I've even done mathematics to compare the size of the original with the one of my paper to make sure I've got the less blank space possible and I just took sooo much time and erased sooo much times that people think it's traced but seriously it's not I did took tips thanks to calculations like where to place the eyes where the head should stop etc.. but that's all I've just done some points to indicate that then that's all, do you know what it is when people start to accuse you of tracing and theft? It's seriously vexing.. And if you know the name of the artist I would be happy to credit him/her.Β
π: 0 β©: 1
Skye24 In reply to PrettyLittleWolf [2013-08-27 11:03:48 +0000 UTC]
It's not about crediting now, it's about plagiarising and taking someone's work to exactly the same. Tracing over is trace but if the work perfectly matches even though you referenced it is applied as tracing. Reference is taking parts and not to be exact. How could that be any less difference from a trace if every single detail is applied and exact?
And explain this hm?Β gyazo.com/8b503edd41d0cb067aa5β¦
It doesn't matter of the calculations it is like saying you did it thr long way with calculations and stuffs and not do easy way, what did that help when it is applied as the same as trace but different method?
I would know if I'm tracing or theft but I don't because I don't do it and deny it. Of course you are pressured and mind me asking as well of why do you share this then when it is not your work. Originally when you trace or use someone's work it is only for practice an dkeeping it to yourself not sharing it online.

PrettyLittleWolf In reply to Skye24 [2013-08-27 11:18:36 +0000 UTC]
wooow I didn't know it matched that much o_o seems like taking tips works after all but seriously believe me I didn't trace well it's not exactly the same, if I really traced why would I have made these mistakes? But seriously this is tiring all those people accusing me.. Well when I say I took a reference I like to be the more exact possible but I'm seriously shocked to see that, well I really didn't trace I just took tips to know where to place the different things that's all (and a lot of patience too) Well it is my work since I didn't trace but well you know if I remove it there will be someone reposting it and since it'll be removed I couldn't report it since it'll not be in my gallery anymore, you know I had a lot of theft case like this -_- (I mean someone stealing and reposting my work) Well you see if I knew I would be accused like that I wouldn't have shared it but it doesn't matter anymore because the reason I haven't posted anything since this is because I'm tired of drawing with references and I've been pacticing a lot to find my own style and to get used to traditional too, so well let's say it's an old story because it's been a lot of time that I wanted to do my own art but I can't delete this because of what I said before..
