It's finally finished: My entry for the deviantIDOL Finale!!!
Theme: "For the final round we want you to show us how your Deviant Idol experience has helped you, and how you feel now that you've made it to the finals." [link]
The perfect opportunity to pause for a moment and have a look back at the last year. This wicket contest started more than 10 months ago - a hell of a long time and Romin & I fought our way up to the podium! Yay!!!
I've put a lot of effort into character development since then although it wasn't really possible to show everything during the contest. Even the other stuff I post here on dA is just a fractional part of what I worked on story- and character-wise during this time.
Nonetheless I hope you enjoyed this contest as much as I did and that you perhaps also like my character Romin. Thanks a lot for your support.

I'd totally do Romin! *cough* I mean, he seems like a very well developed character. >.> If my imagination did not constantly refuse to transfer my characters onto paper, I might do that. Oh yeah, I would also have to develop some sort of drawing skill between now and then. I can sketch out a wonderful stick figure. All my friends tell me that.

i completely sympathize w/ u on that part wer "we shud be nice w/ our character every now and then.. and they benefit u w/ wonderful ideas."
i realize it's something u and ur characters share alone. they grow into you, esp wen u make a story/ comic/ poem/ art.. everything.

Posting art when I'm in Japan will be a problem since I don't plan to take either my pc or scanner with me. I'll just have a small notebook to keep in touch with everyone. But I'll take lots of photos and fill my sketchbook.

Aw, this is so nice! The thing that struck me the most was giving him a loving family...something most people tend to, uh, forget.

Haha, yeah, that family-thing bothers me, too! Either the family is slaughtered by the bad guys or they have no family at all. Whut?! O_o
Although I must admit that I made the same mistake at first. "Romin? Family? Uhm.... They died by random event..." I was young and stupid. lol
I'm so glad I changed that. Ok, except for the fact that his parents are indeed dead by now. But they where kinda old and died a natural death! ;_; And he still has his uncle and everyone else! <3

Yeah, I try to avoid the 'random death' of family. Kind of happy with my most recent character, i.e., they no longer communicate with their family, but you assume the mom and dad are still alive. Of course, looking at most main characters in classic literature/media- Harry Potter, Aang, Frodo, and of course, angstyist of all, Naruto- none of them have parents. It's like a DISEASE!

I suppose the only reason to kill off all those parents of young heroes is to give the brats more freedom since there won't be a responsible adult to send them to bed: "Stop playing with that sword! You will hurt yourself!!" --- "But Mom, I have to..." --- "I said NO!"

Glad to hear you like the compilation. I wish I had drawn Romin before last year. Okay, actually I did while trying to draw that story as a comic (lol) but I couldn't find the old drawings.

Commissions will have to wait until I'm back from Japan next year (April 2009). I'm just too busy right now to have the discipline and time to accept commissions. But I'll do my best when the right time has come. ^^
