great piece but it would be even greater if the window lights would be in perspective as well.

Custom building brushes huh? I never would have guessed it. You did a great job making the buildings look different. And the window brushes were a fantastic idea. I'll have to try something like that out sometime.

Thanks Vargiss,
Actually, using these types of brushes was a technique developed by a group of Canadian concept artists (Vyle, Sparth, Barontieri).
There's a Gnomon DVD by Devid Levy (Vyle) which gives tutorial on the tyechnique.

Excellent as always.
Can I ask, for the buildings. Do you use a mouse or graphic tablet? And what kind of brush?
I'm trying to create builings like these, but can't get them right.

Well, I used a graphics tablet.
As for the building, I created a custom brush specifically for the building.
The brush is basically a drawing of a building, then I adjusted the shape dynamics so that the brush would scatter and create different size buildings .
Once the buildings were scattered around I went ahead and added the details and altered a few buildings for variety (The windows were done the same way. i created a brush iwth veveral little windows ).
Since I did this during the middle of the holidays I didn't have too much spare time so I had to create custom brushes to speed up the process. The image took about an hour and a half.

I just discovered the advantage of using different kinds of brushes.
Have to experiment some more with them. I used to only use the round brush. For characters thats ok. But not for more complete pieces.
Following your progress for the IFX cover btw. Looking good.
Cheers.

If I knew how to submit a daily deviant, I would definatly submit this one. Great architecture, wonderful colors and overall, asthetically pleasing to the eye.
