Description Hai geiz. I've been inking chapter II of Tracks for FXT.

It looks amazing. I think I am justified in saying that, though it is my own work. I'm really happy with how this chapter is looking so far.

Now that I know just how large FXT really is I'm packing in more texture, details, and general awesome into every panel of the comic.

If your eyes explode when you read chapter two in print, don't say I didn't warn you.

Anyway here is a panel from a page. Panel borders are always the last thing I lay down, so that's why they're not here. But the inkwork is so dense, you can pretty much work out where they are (hey! - thanks Gestalt principles of connectivity and continuity!).

All these lines were made with one pen (esterbrook Falcon, nothing else comes close IMHO). Pages like this love to kill nibs.

Anyway I left the pencil lines on so you can kind of see how much I ignore them (lol).

In fact this is the mess I hand to the editor: [link] and then I'm like "DON'T WORRY I KNO WOT AM DOANG"

deserves like a round of applause for dealing with me... hahaha cause I am probably the worst person to work with.

So yeah, this is for FXT issue two. Issue ONE is already on sale and you can learn about it HERE: [link] [link] [link] [link]

Check it out.

Duuuuude, this is sick! I LOVE the idea of no actual drawn borders, the lack of lines looks way cleaner. Great job with the simple lines rendering out the background, too.

I'm glad you use a nib pen, too. I don't know many people who are currently making comics with nib pens (somewhat understandable, they're expensive). They have a distinct and awesome look, you seem to have a good grasp of that.

It's actually cheaper to work with a dip pen, than really anything else.

I spent like $1.99 on the holder, and then $10 on a box of nibs (one gross or 144 nibs) off of ebay. So about as much as a good refillable brush pen, and less than a good quality brush.

144 nibs = enough for over 1000 pages of comics.

Shit, dude... I'm gonna look into that! What kind of pen do you use? How frequently do you change the nib?

I go on ebay and look for a lot of nibs like so: [link]

Since that is the cheapest way to acquire them. These days new nibs cost like $1 or more each, so finding old boxes or lots is much cheaper. They come up on ebay frequently enough.

And then any standard holder will do.
