Description I wanted to try and see how rolls work. I never animated one so I researched a bit, and made one and... I don't like them xD
They break the speed and I want her moving fast. But I am starting to realize it might be a bit too fast. She will need to slow down if camera would have any hope of catching up.

The way she lands seems like it would hurt a lot. The roll is there but doesn't really help soften the fall. A roll keep the forwards momentum so it might help if the angle at which she falls was less steep.

Also keep in mind that a roll like this is not the same as a somersault. Its not a straight on roll with the head in the middle. You roll at an angle from shoulder to the opposite hip.

As you said I also think its a bit fast. At this speed its harder to put detail in the movement and harder for us to understand whats happening. The key to getting fast at playing an instrument is to start slow, its the same with drawing, so I think its similar for animation as well. If you do these movements at a more realistic speed first, I think it'll be easier to have a convincing, high-speed roll after.

You really want to lessen the impact, show how she breaks the fall.

But I've gotta say, you've improved a lot with your daily sketches and you're pumping out these clips quickly and consistently so I'm sure you'll improve. I really like some of the newer things you've posted! ^^
When it comes to animation tho it might be helpful to try and dedicate more than a day so you can really flesh out the movement.

Wow, thanks for the tips
I never did a roll before, and I noticed there are quite a few types of them. I figured any will do for now, but yeah, even if the speed was lower, it just doesn't quite... roll well with me.
I am considering polishing more dailies over more than a day, but at the moment, I shoot for variety. It's always been a thing with the dailies, trying out new stuff and just experiencing new subjects.

Np!

The more I watch and learn the more passionate I am about art and animation. Its funny when I get super excited and emotional over a great drawing and people around me don't get it. xD I figure they feel like I do when others get excited about cars.
I love analyzing animations and figuring out how I could try and improve them because it forces me to think about it all even if I can't animate myself right now.

I think variety is good too, it helps build that visual library. The level of polish on your daily sketches is great, so I think it'd be fun to see what you could do with a full week once in a while!

It will be a while until I take on a greater project. My schedule doesn't permit me to keep focus on a prolonged project. Dailies happen and end and I don't mind much about the result, and that works, but anything more and I would probably fail to finish it since it would drag on. The manga had only 6 pages yet it just took too long to find the time for it...
One day, my schedule will change, but that won't be anytime soon. Probably not this year.

Ah, makes sense then.

I hope you'll have more time for art in the future!
