After Ryan finishes her studies (which she insists on—for two hours, while I read depressing news on my phone and really wished Madeline was around to talk to), she took off all of her Madeline cosplay stuff and we went to the studio. She said she wanted to do a classy picture.

Ryan Palmer: How come you never do classy pictures with me?

Me: We did…

I stop myself, remembering that she doesn't know I have that picture of her in the staircase, since it was taken via a very good spy camera. Give Uncle NIK that—those spy shots are incredible for things done on hidden cameras.

Me: Um, didn't we do that felt peace shot with you in one of Madeline's dresses?

RP: No, that was me being stupid and trashy. *She looks like she might cry*

Me: I was thinking of the other one, the one with Madeline. You were gorgeous and classy.

RP: And naked.

Me: And naked. But that's who you are. Unvarnished. Uninhibited. Un…um, unaffected. You're great as you, Ryan.

RP: *has some strange mix of frown and smile* Okay. But lets do a classy shot. Like black and white. That's sophisticated, right?

Me: Yes. Sometimes. Do you have something in mind?

She holds up her phone, showing me a high fashion shot that is so not Ryan. It's gorgeous, but has nothing of her personality.

Me: Are you sure?

RP: It's classy, right? I want to be classy.

Daz wrangled the set and found Ryan's dress in our stock…and reminded Ryan that the picture we're recreating doesn't have cut out panels. Ryan: Oh, yeah. Classy! Iray handled the lights and helped me get the camera set up to match the original perspective. Photoshop and NIK, Jr. worked on the toning and giving it a vintage feel that wasn't really in the original photo, but helped offset Ryan's awkward stiffness. I love her, but Ryan just isn't sophisticated and classy. Not her forté.
