I know! In Japan there were called Beast King Go Lion & Armored Fleet Dairugger XV. They are a prime examples of pure classic mecha bad-assery! Nothing like what they keep doing these days. Classic is always way better. Mazinkaiser, Shin Getter Robo, Evangelion, Gundam Wing, GaoGaiGar, Big O, Gunbuster. These are a few examples of classic anime mecha bad-assery. From the early 70s to the early 2000s, mecha were so perfect. Nowadays, everybody's all about Gurren Lagann. While I agree, it is a good series, It doesn't have that same essence or flavor as the greats from pre-2004 had. It's unfortunately spread to the Evangelion Theatrical series. It's just not the same as the original. It's like Star Trek or Star Wars. Or Michael Bay's shitty-ass live-action Transformers series which is a spit in the eyes of the glory that is Transformers Generation One. The original films will always be better.

ive just started gurren lagan and i noticed that right away it didnt feel like a classic good mech series. like u i enjoy it but im with u i prefer old school when it comes to all that
and yeah if a good transformer movie i put in the animated one cause come on they have a transformer called rodimus prime if thats not a porn star name waiting to happen i dont know what is lol

Hotrod is my 1 of my most favorite Autobots!! Right up there with Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Arcee, Grimlock, Wheelie, Ultra Magnus, & Springer!

And I just don't get the mecha in that show. They're all powered by preposterous amounts of testosterone. Preposterone!!
