I think some people forget that she couldn't connect to her spiritual self either. She exceeded only at physical bending, but there seemed to be a block on her ability to talk to past selves and be that bridge between the worlds.
So when she lost three elements on top of that, she considered herself absolute failure and no longer an Avatar.

In fact, I think there was an implication that she was going to commit suicide on that cliff, to let the cycle go on properly. She pushed everyone, including Mako, away after all.
And by doing that, she let go of all her earthly attachments, thus opening the last chakra and finally making a spiritual connection.
Aang said that, her reaching the lowest point and opening to change. Pretty dark, but horrible enough to be plausible and make sense. Poor Korra. x3

Beeeautiful art too. She was very pretty in her state.

Kick ass piece! I didn't watch the episode until like an hour ago and was like "'Bout freaking time. Hell yeah!"

But the whole 'oh I'm not the avatar, you don't have to help me anymore' thing just pissed me off. It's like they had to put in a self-pity scene. But when she got her bending back I was like "hehehe, go kickass Korra". And Aang was pretty cool too, of course.

I ranted. lol But still, amazing pic!

I hated how she was like "I can't bend ALL the elements now, so i'm not the avatar" GAHH!!! The AVATAR isn't just a person who can bend 4 elements, its the EQUAL parts SPIRITUAL and HUMAN!
THE FLIPPING GATEWAY BETWEEN THE SPIRIT WORLD AND THE HUMAN WORLD!!!! They just TOTALLY forgot that! I don't know, it was cool, but I still had some problems with it.

Only Korra could never connect to the spirit world. The furthest she got was to get some help from Aang regarding flashbacks.
So when she could no longer bend AND couldn't achieve the spiritual connection, she considered herself a failure.
So they didn't forget that. Korra's spiritual block was still there, that's the reason. She unlocked it in the end with how broken she felt.

Poor Korra was probably just tripping out she probably qualifies Avatar as someone who can bend all four elements, or she was just angry. I wanted to hug her, poor girl T_T.
