Ooh definitely play New vegas. People who says NV was not as good as FO3, do not trust them.
New Vegas' map is smaller than that of Fallout 3 but feels more populated. The choices you make actually feel like they matter this time around. Plus the new faction system, accompanied by a vastly better storyline which follows the original Fallout lores closely, and a hardcore mode where you have to depend on food and drinks to survive.

Is it bad that I shot more people in New Vegas than in Fallout 3?
I was a good guy in Fallout 3, in New Vegas I stole anything that wasn't nailed down.

Oh! Maybe it 's the world?
Vegas world has this outlaw cowboys feel to it whereas in Fallout 3 most factions play nice with each others. For example, the Brotherhood of Steel in Fallout 3, was more of a "Templar" lawful good faction.
Whereas in New Vegas they encourages you to stick with the factions you like and sometimes that'd block advancement to other factions' quest lines. The Brotherhood was closer to the original Fallout in which they exist to hide powerful technologies from people.

I TRIED THREE TIMES.
I CANT GET INTO IT.
FIRST I SUCK AT PLAYING ON XBOX, TWO I DONT LIKE THEIR COWBOY ACCENTS AND THE GENERAL FARWEST ATMOSPHERE (I HATE WESTERN MOVIES) AND I DONT KNOW IT'S ALSO A BIT UGLIER AND THE STORY DOESNT DIRECT ME ENOUGH SINCE IM A DUMB FUCK I NEED DIRECTIONS YOU KNOW.
Maybe if one day I get a French Version on PC, maybe, but this Xbox game is gonna fly through the window I swear.
