a fun fact, i was at first thinking on making mohatu the one who made taka into scar :3 simply because i dont think iwe seen that theory before xD

tell me what you think of this:
mohatu have a brother (selfish lion) that look quiete alot like scar, exept from the nose and the colors. and his brother constantly try to kill or harm those he loves. at first, he is unable to harm him, as he IS his brother (like under that drought) or maybe he is upholding a promise for example his mother made him swear on her deathbed (or something like that) to try to heal whatever caused the rift between them. but eventually his brother drive him to the brink were he no longer are able to see him as anything other than a danger to his family, so he kill/banishes him.

so what if he at first were a loving grandfather to bouth taka and mufasa, and takas greatest hero, but a disease that make him forget at times who his grandsons are, and eventually, as taka and mufasa grows, his condition grows worse, and starts to mix taka with his brother, and are unable to see him as his beloved grandson, but rather as a dangerous treath that he must deal with, for the sake of his family.
and ofcourse, taka gets mentally scarred because of his grandfathers sudden turn from his most trusted family member, to the most feared, and starts to distrust his family. after all, if his beloved grandfather that he trusted so deeply would try to kill him, then what about his other family members.
and eventually, the hyenas (?) find out about his distrust, and tries to turn it to theyr advance.

you could give mohatu alzheimers or some other form of dementia -- that would account for his not being able to remember who someone is, or confusing them for someone else.
