Description Shane and I recently acquired a new member of the family. His name is Linus and he's a Kenyan Sand Boa. He's not your typical streamline arrow-headed snake, he's a bit more plump and has a charming overbite. He's very lumpy, very docile, and really enjoys burrowing. I enjoy burrowing as well, so we get along nicely
Enjoy!

I have a black and white Kenyan sand boa. These snakes are so cute and have very sweet personalities. This portrayal is just awesome. I love it. <3

Oooh, you have an Anery? You're very lucky!! I think if I got another, I'd definitely get an Anery female, they're just stunning.

They are really gorgeous. I got my Anery boy full grown from a breeder in Florida for a really decent price and he is the most beautiful and sweetest thing. I think if I were to get another I'd either get a snow or genetic stripe. Both are very pretty.

Ooooh Snows are gorgeous! Dodomas are really incredible too, there's just so many good morphs with this breed. The breeder I got my guy from had a -huge- Anery female that just melted in your hands like butter.. she was the sweetest thing. I can't wait until mine is full grown, I'm looking forward to having a huge lumpy snake LOL. Did you have yours shipped to you?

WaveMaiden In reply to Polarkeet [2011-12-15 18:45:10 +0000 UTC]

Yep! I had him shipped to me overnight from Florida for about $25 since the package was so small. The cost for my boy himself was $80 but that isn't bad considering he was full grown. The breeder I found was on kingsnake.com. His shop's name was Underground Reptiles. Unfortunately, I don't think they are selling Kenyan sand boas anymore.

I went to a reptile show that was in a nearby city and they had a huge normal female on display. I've never heard of them and their faces were so adorable. They look so much like frogs. That's how I fell in love with these snakes. When I held her she just kept trying to burrow into my palms. It was too cute! The Dodomas you mentioned are also beautiful. They look like bumble bees! I can't wait to get a huge female.

Oh wow, for some reason I thought shipping would be alot more! That's not bad at all! We got ours from a reptile expo, from the breeder. The breeder was a bright young lad, about 12 years old.. he handles all of his snakes once or twice a week to make sure they're super tame. It was a family operation, even his mom was involved. I guess the kid's dad bred Rosy Boas for years, but switched to Sand Boas because he liked the temperment better. The kid's mom wasn't too keen on the idea of her son selling snakes, but then he told her he was saving up for college and that changed her mind pretty quick lol. They're called Brother Boas and they had some reeeeally beautiful young snakes. I think they have some stripes, too. Here's a link- [link]
Haha, you're totally right, they do look a lot like frogs! I never thought of that.. but they totally have flat looking faces in comparison to the arrowheaded snakes. I need to include that in my next caricature lol.

Thanks for the link and info! I really appreciate it! Eventually I want to get a breedable female along with some other morphs. It is my dream to have lots of boas and I've been looking for good breeders for a while. It's so hard to find breeders in this type of snake but this one sounds perfect! It sounds like they know their stuff and really love what they do. Plus the profit is going toward a good cause. Their snakes are handled often as well. That is very important to me. I'm seriously thinking about getting one from there now when I earn a bit more money. Due to Christmas and other financial problems I'm a bit pinched for money atm. Haha, but isn't everyone though?

I'm also looking forward to your next caricature! I'm glad I made someone's day. x3 I might post some pictures of my boa sometime so you can see. I'd love to see photos of yours too! <3
