My part of the Nordanner Secret Valentine Art Swap.I was chosen to draw s1088 's beautiful Tiger girl 6504 TBS Sarabi who turned out to be just the challenge I needed to get inspired to do the very first "usual-style" work done completely with colored pencils in *checks* around two years. So sad.
Stripes. That's all I have to say. I do enjoy making things hard for me
It took me so long to decide what to draw for the background, the pose was an easy pick for her, but for a while I had no idea what kind of background I should give this. I didn't want a fully realistic one, because I wanted something that went well with the Valentine's theme, but then all I could think was hearts >_>
Also, I'm -really- not used to using so much pink. Nope. It was a very weird experience for me to create this setting.

This is a wonderful color pattern and you made it look natural on an equine.
Many primitive horses had striping on their legs. In your image I can imagine what
one of the early equines may have looked like. Nice work.

I have to admit all the pink got me a little nervous, I'm really not used to working with it. And I was also nervous about filling the background, because I feel so rusty that I was afraid I wasn't going to be able to smooth it out like I usually do xD Stupid, I know, but I went so long without doing any real colored pencil art that I can't help it!

You nailed with the pinkness and smoothness so there was no need to be nervous! But I can totally feel you; I haven't been doing proper watercolors for ages so picking them up now seems a bit intimidating...
