Personality
Ambitious | Bitter | Blunt | Determined | Easily Irritable |Hard-Working | Independent | Perfectionist | Responsible | Sensitive
As a daughter of a muggle and a wizard, she has developed a responsible and independent character as she was taught to be very cautious of her emotions and actions which might lead to her family’s secret being found out. She prefers to do her tasks by herself and hates to rely on others as she believes relying on others reveals the weakness of oneself. She works hard to get what she wants with her own power.
Her father’s side has made her absorbed in proving herself to them as their equal. Thus she is very critical of others but even more on herself. A perfectionist such as herself, it is hard for her to be satisfied with anything. Being looked down upon from her relatives has made her grow bitter as well as emotionally sensitive. She blames her parents for her troubles: Her father for doing something as idiotic as to marry a muggle and sacrificing a luxurious lifestyle, and her mother, for her connection in the muggle world. But she is also scared of the harsh words of her relatives said about her. This fear of what people think about her made her distance herself from others. It is now difficult for her to converse with others, as she is often wary of them and is quick to place her own judgment on what kind of people they are. She doesn’t talk much and her words tend to be harsh and cold so she seems arrogant to others. Not knowing how precious bonds are between people like her parents, she has grown to treasure materialistic goods more than people.
Background
The Perdue household is a rich pure-blooded family with a long history in the apothecary business. The family holds their blood status in high esteem. Of course most families claiming to be pure-blooded do having mixing as they would not be able to survive if not for it. Tracing back to their ancestors there were half-bloods but their muggle relatives were distant unlike the unthinkable thing that Alexis’ father did. Her father married a muggle woman. Obviously the family was upset and thus he distanced himself from them.
He, like many others in the muggle-wizard relationships, hid his magical background from his wife as long as possible. But after many conversations on having children together, he decided to tell her. She was shocked but she was eventually okay with the situation, he was the same man she fell in love with regardless. But adjusting to the many new things that came along with it was difficult for her, it was tolerable but hard.
Rosie was very nervous for her first born, especially since it was most likely going to be one with magical powers like the child’s father. Thus from youth, Alexis was constantly told of her magical heritage, how she was different and how she had to be responsible to keep their secret. She was constantly supervised and always interrogated after school [her mother wanted to attend muggle school before she went off to magical education].
Family relations were still strained for her father but a select few who cared for him allowed him to make a few visits to their main home with her, her mother was not invited on such visits nor did she wish to attend. Alexis saw how luxuriously they lived and their interesting long history. She became jealous of their lifestyle, starting to feel bitter about her current life. Being in the main house also put her in the spotlight, as the child of a pure-blood and muggle, they often looked down on her. She also heard whispers of how she was inferior from their own children which made her uncomfortable, developing fears that there was a chance she was a squib due to her mother’s origins. She wanted to learn more about the magical world, and her mother couldn’t help her when her father was busy. This caused a strained relationship with her mother along with her neglected studies at her muggle primary school which caused her mother to become very stressed. The family was barely holding together so the couple decided not to have any more children despite their original plans.
Alexis’ powers appeared a while after her tenth birthday while at home to the relief to her parents. It may have been of a greater relief to their child whose fear of being powerless had been expelled. Her magical powers confirmed, she dropped out from muggle education, instead, focusing on her preparations for magical education. She made goals to rise above the rest of her soon to be classmates and prove herself to her relatives.
After she received her letter of acceptance and reached her school, she was only focused on her studies rather than making friends with her classmates. If anyone asked her what her parents were, she would coldly reply that they were witch and wizard, worried they had the same mindset as her relatives. Talking about mundane subjects was not going to help her. She excelled in most of her subjects though she did only performed satisfactorily in Herbology, her dislike of plants prevented her from receiving top marks. Her second year continued on as much as the last except for the incident which resulted into the death of a professor and the imprisonment of another. Her third year started much the same as the last two, the distance between her and others widening. Others may have been hyped up for all the events, especially the Triwizard competition but she held no interested in them. Though she heard her school’s competitor placed first in the first task, the celebrations meant nothing to her unless she herself was the winner.
