I've had alot of people thank me for replying to their comments even though I had a good amount of page views(my other account XD) or they thought I was "Popular".I LOVE getting COMMENTS on my pictures. Way more than faves. And I will always thank you for them.

The funny thing is, a lot of good artist ignore most of the comments, the fans notice that and dont write comments anymore and then comes this artist with journals and asking: why no one comment on my art anymore?" .

Same. But due to large groups, flooded inboxes, and either deviants that move to other accounts or other websites... comment flooding seems impossible now.

The only two cases i don't reply to a comment are: 1) it is written in too small fonts (i have some difficulties to read small fonts), 2) complete non-sense comment (even if i might reply to induce that person to articulate better his/her comment).
Other than that i always reply i love to interact with others despite my introvered nature.

I remember I had 1 comment on one of my first stories I didn't reply to for some reason. over a year later I found it and was like "nuuu!" So I replied to it then! xD

I Imagine it gets pretty hard for artists who are so popular they recieve hundreds of comments the very moment they submit something, and in their case it isn't really rude...
But I',m not one of those really busy people, so I'll always reply when I can!

I guess if they replied just to some of them, and others not due to the lack of time, people who didn't get a reply would still think they're just getting ignored, so I think some do not reply at all to not make an impression of just replying to "chosen" people. I don't know... but I know for sure not all of them are intending to be rude :3
