Description
You left her aloneto walk this endless mile
to watch the stars fade
and step into her lonely room
with only memories to grasp and
cling to because it's all she has left
memories memories, laughter and smiles
warm sunny days when the sunlight kissed our cheeks, as we did.
As you look down with the blue sky, she looks back with twinkling eyes.
You found someone new
and as she tried to be strong, her strength dwindled and all she knew,
she pushed away
and the loneliness crept in.
Now, as she cries,
the black handprints on her ceiling laugh at her
pretending their existence is an endless thing
and she pretends that the star on her wall is just another in the night sky
You grab the hand that she wishes were hers,
take that girl away like you once did before,
make empty promises and kiss her sweet lips
hoping she can save you from the things that control you
Filling your heart and mind with thoughts of that girl
while the other's thoughts continue to dwell on you.
She hugs loneliness because she can't run from it anymore
and with the moisture on her cheeks, wonders where the light has gone.
She made you her own
and you left her alone.

Favorite lines: The black handprints on her ceiling laugh at her / pretending their existence is an endless thing.
I dig those lines especially because that is a DAMN GOOD image for loneliness.

We painted my ceiling and put our handprints on it side by side. It makes for the perfect metaphor, but they were literally there too!
