I am desperately trying to learn how to cell shade. It irks me that I still can't draw in a very main stream style.TT____TT Must...learn how to be practical.
A person's maplestory char. I took some requests at a maplestory forum for the sake of practice.

Um, you're so funny lol Most people would thrive on having a unique style XD Well, I don't know how to cell shade, really, but I think you're starting out pretty good. The feel reminds me of some Ghibli movies :3

So cute, love the color, immediately struck me when I saw it because it's so HEE as opposed to your usual work which is like WHOO. I think it's still a bit too blended to be cel-shading. Cel-shading generally happens at full opacity, or at least with fully separated areas of color, whereas your has a lot of overlap.
But I think this is mainstream enough unless you intend to go into animation, in which case cel-shading probably makes things a lot easier.

The Cell shade style is some what good, better then what I do with cell shading (I can't even do light vs dark properly!).
btw, the BG is nice.

Hah! the BG was very the easiest part. Just slap on a gradient, than paste a nifty screentone on top.
Add clouds.
Yeah..that was pretty much it.
I recoloured the clothing 10000 times. Clothes are...very hard to cel shade. IMO

Nice to see you trying out different things, always good for picking up new skills and improving. It came out like an interesting new twist on traditional cell shading, you didn't leave behind your trademark look.

I think I should try vectoring, it's much cleaner. I wish I were more versatile though. I don't want to be stuck in one mold. :/ <--is there a better way to put it >_>
