Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse, the reactionaries in control of the Michigan Legislature have made it legal for free riders to work in the state. This is a direct attack on labor and collective bargaining rights, and is always disguised as "right to work." As the President put it the other day, it's about "the right to work for less money." Indeed.

This is not the first time in recent months that the Republicans in the Michigan Legislature have shown just how hostile they are to the interests of women, workers, the poor, and minorities. Two women legislators were thrown out of the Michigan House when they used the word "vagina" during a debate on abortion legislation, and there has been a wholesale assault on unemployment benefits, among other crimes against the people.

For reactionary crimes against workers, women and minorities of all kinds, I'll put my Texas legislature (AKA "The House of Perry") up against your Lansing Mobsters any day!

I'm half surprised Obama even said anything about this. I think the only reason he spoke out against RTW is that he was in Michigan when it was happening. He sure as hell didn't say anything when my reactionary governor, Scott Walker, stripped CB rights here in Wisconsin.
