The square???
I studied that square earlier and concluded that it was totally consistent with the texture of the design from which it develops. It is the center after all... The whole piece is square, so why the objection to a repeated square?
There are no other intersection points in the image where all directions converge and that's why it shows as a square. Totally fitting though. Consider... 4 is used as a symbol of universality. The four directions, the four winds, the four corners of Earth.
Thanks for your work on this one!

There is a square in the center, is that it?

Now that we know what's bothering you, I cannot keep my eyes off that center!

I'd say the very center is a little crooked, but that's not it, is it? Even so, I like this very much. Love how the gradient lends to the medieval, sword-like appearance. Did you work at that, or did it just happen?

Then it's probably some technical thing I haven't learned, yet. Dammit. LOL

Okay, one more shot at this. It's where the tips of the 'blades' connect and sort of look flat or don't flow into one another.
