Description
M is for Menthu, the Egyptian god of war. Menthu was an ancient god, his name meaning "nomad", originally a manifestation of the scorching effect of the sun, Ra, and as such often appeared under the epithet Menthu-Ra. The destructiveness of this characteristic lead to him gaining characteristics of a warrior, and eventually becoming a war-god. He also represents strength, virility and victory. He is also depicted as a white bull with a black face, which is referred to as the Bakha.

He is shown as either a falcon- or bull-headed man wearing the sun disc with two plumes on his head, the falcon representing the sky and the bull representing strength and war. In his hands he usually holds various weaponry.

The project this is for is an alphabet assignment. We had to pick a theme and come up with one image for every letter of the alphabet that followed our theme. I chose gods and goddesses. I've finished my sketches for all of the letters, and Menthu here is the third of the 6 final drawings that we have to do.
