Description
This is the duo I thought of in my journal post about Splatoon 3, Axo and Lotl. Similar to how Callie and Marie are a reference to calamari and how Pearl and Marina are based on Pearl Harbor, Axo and Lotl are based on their species, the axolotl. Here is their descriptions.

Life: Axo grew up wanting to be a rock star ever since he first heard the original version of "Splattack" so he wanted to make songs for inklings playing turf war. Then he wanted to perform for Splatfests, so he formed Axolotl Rose (a reference to rock musician, Axel Rose) and that's when he met his partner, Lotl. He is often described as cool, funny, full of jokes and a friendly giant, despite his rocker look on his face. He prefers Callie and Marina, but still loves Pearl and Marie.

Life: Lotl grew up with musicians. Her mother played the drums while her father loved to sing. So Lotl decided to be a musician and picked guitar for her instrument. Her parents encouraged it, wanting their daughter to be into music ever since she was born. When Lotl was twenty-three, she met her partner, Axo, and that's when they formed Axolotl Rose. She is often energetic, cute, funny, loves puns, sweet and optimistic, which explains her cheerful look on her face. She loves Callie and Pearl, but does love Marie and Marina.
