It’s amazing how such a simple subject of sand and wood posts can be so sensual. I’m not a photographer so I’m not good at talking about tones, light, shadows etc. – this just looks beautiful to me.

Andross01 [2006-10-21 13:26:02 +0000 UTC]

The tonal range and detail is just incredible. Is this some sort of film you are using or are you using a digital post-pro technique?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Pixydream In reply to Andross01 [2006-10-21 14:46:29 +0000 UTC]

Yes it's a digital shot. I use Adobe Lightroom for B&W conversion and levels and curves work and an old Photoshop version to finalize (sharpen, crop and so on).

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Andross01 In reply to Pixydream [2006-10-21 20:56:04 +0000 UTC]

Ah, yes, handy program, I don't tend to use it as much though b/c I can't do as much web workflow with it as I'd like. I suppose shooting at sunset/sunrise (it appears you did such, based on the shadows) helps as well. Irregardless, that's some crazy tonal range there. Beautiful

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Pixydream In reply to Andross01 [2006-10-21 21:28:51 +0000 UTC]

Thanks!
Yes, I often shot at sunset.
Mainly because of my localisation, I live at west, on the seaside. And sunset is the best moment for dunes and beach photographs. This is a better a choice for the light I want to use.
And in fact I don't spend a long time in post production, all the work takes place when I shoot..

I agree with you Kristine about patterns in the sand, wind and light draw sensual curves and bring a smooth of those arid landscape.. Thanks a lot for this nice comment.

Yes, sand can be so lovely - both to touch and shoot at. So keep it coming
