I have a felling that Muir Might have a good relationship with his mother in fact he takes his studies seriously unlike Merida but sometimes wishes he could have a better relationship with his dad also I could see him competing with the Lords sons for the hand of the madden Even though he doesn't really want to.

the description cracked me up. i'd rather have him not liking the whole prince situation and being a future king since that's rather closer to canon, but i could do this one too

Ah, well, I figured that because Elinor wanted Merida to be the perfect princess, which she wasn't, Fergus would want Muir to be the perfect medieval prince (swords and weapons and killing things, hunting, Highland Games) which he isn't. He prefers music and singing and embroidery, which leads his father to believe he's weak and unfit to reign in his stead (which creates problems, as Muir has three younger brothers who will grow up how Fergus wants them, and there could be murder and strife and everything will suck).
Anyway, tl;dr: I saw it as a mirror to Elinor and Merida's relationship.
It's probably anachronistic, but then so are the kilts (they weren't developed until the 16th century).
