Description This was just an experiment, and I think it worked out pretty well

The only thing i did to manipulate it was to erase some background bits in the upper corners.

Love the minimalism of the photo with the white background, and the detail in the frontmost tomato.

Very impressive. I like how the colors descend and the arrangement. Normal things could always be laid out in an interesting way

Hey hey, I love the shot. +fav I have been trying to take some shots like these, but have failed time and time again. If ya don't mind me asking some questions...

How do you set it up? What kind of background? Natural light or no?
Im guessing high exposure. How about shutter speed? ISO setting?

Thanks for helping out if ya do

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Pixell In reply to XenOtaku [2004-01-08 20:37:23 +0000 UTC]

certainly I used fax-paper on a roll (but regular paper should work fine too ) to put the tomatoes on outside (natural light; the sunlight was coming from behind the tomatoes). To get the background completely white you need to set the exposure-time up a little. If you have it on your camera, you can use the exposure compensation to increase the exposure, I guess youll need something about +2.0 EV, but im not sure; experiment
thanks for the +fav!

wow i love this, how do you get it to be such a blank background though? 0_o....some form of computer device im guessing...but i've always wondered with these types of photos awesome shot ^_^

Pixell In reply to orangegirl [2003-11-06 08:58:08 +0000 UTC]

Thanks!
I rolled out some white fax-paper to put the tomatoes on, and used plain sunlight (the sky was partially clouded so there were very soft shadows) and increased the exposure compensation in the camera, very simple no after editing exept I had to cut away some small pieces of the backround

Very very nice shot, are they glued into position heh.

It would have been a great shot with any 5 tomatoes, but the green to ripe idea was a clever touch and the icing on the cake, great stuff.

Lovely shot! The idea itself is great. The red to green really is awesome with the pure white of the background and what not. Nice work! I would maybe say touch it up in photoshop, the tomatoes that is, to get a more accurate shade transition on the tomatoes themselves. It's up to you, and is a great shot regardless. I just wanted to offer an idea ^_^
