Excellent coloring here, I especially love the texture of the girl's pants, and the man's muscle shadows. The folds in her shirt are awesome, you outdid yerself on this one

You've outdone yourself again.
I like the choice of colours for them both. The texture on her pants is interetesting - snake skin? It gives off an impression of something between snake skin and denim, but it is different and I like it.
As for the background, I like and understand the concept you are trying to pull off but would make one or two changes. Make the rays of light less yellow and orange and make them that white light characteristic of light rays from the heavens. Then carry them out all the way into the orange rays. I think that this might give it a closer look to what you might have been going for.

yeah i know, there's just too many anime matrix/DBZ/Lord of the rings/Goth shit on here..just a bunch of kids trying to find themselves but not take anyones advice or critique or help. It's been over run with everyone and thier mom's stick man sketches in an effort to just get some attention. It's a sad sad world we live in.

I fully agree. If someone's body of work does not show skill, interest in constructive critical feedback, or atleast growth of some kind then I see no point in it being up. I am really very tired of selfish twelve year olds drawing their crappy anime or the photography and drawing snobs who don't interact at all with their fellow deviants because they feel that their own art is so good.
There is just so much DEVIATION from the original intent of Deviantart. I think people need to review why they are here and reacess their existence in this community.

I really like this one. The lighting and shading is great and you used some good textures for added interest. Well thought out values and color blends give this piece a true sense of atmosphere. The backround is good and does not detract for the main focus of the piece.

Well im just saying it looks like atract. Im not sure what you were going for overall though. I mean i see that its supposed to be very strong light, but i dont get the crazy colors and the "fog" look in it.
