Description WALLPAPER, ICONS, BLACKBOX BUILD, BBLEANBAR, BBINTERFACE, BBICONS and BBLEANSKIN included.
This theme is made up of Blackbox elements - no third party programs or gadgets, no objectdocks or rocketdocks or whateverdocks: everything is made with the help of BBInterface and BBIcons, with the exception of a Mac styler theme for the windows. However, the outer skin of the windows is decorated by BBLeanSkin. The advantage of this is you can change Blackbox styles and see the bar and the other elements changing colors and textures at the same time. No need to look around for docks and gadgets that will "look similar" to each new wallpaper and/or theme. This is the power of Blackbox
The wallpaper is "HDuff Wally" by Delta909 [link] with his permission. Delta909 resized his original wall for this style and I thank him for his time and effort. The build of Blackbox (BBLeanMod), along with the included builds of BBLeanBar and BBLeanSkin are by nocd5 [link] included with his permission. The bbinterface script is by me and all the icons should be placed in C:\ICONS. Make sure to use capital letters.
Again, there is only one Drawer responding to MacBar's switch buttons (click on Go to see it) to work as template. You can copy it (Interface Operations/Clone This Control) to create drawers for the other six switch buttons and include buttons/shortcuts to your own applications.
The BB toolbar (bbleanbar) and the menu are right there, with the appropriate colors, they just are not shown. BBLeanBar is set to AutoHide for maximum Mac effect, but of course you can bring it up if you like. When shown it's placed at the bottom of the screen, right under the "dock".
After replacing your older Blackbox, BBLeanBar, and BBLeanSkin builds with the ones provided in the zip file, restart. The wallpaper should be put in C:\Wallpaper2. Please note me for more instructions. ATTENTION: These builds are for Blackbox users that already have rc files in their respective folders. Everyone else who wishes to try Blackbox for the first time should download the whole enchilada from nocd5's site, or e-mail me for instructions. Plus, the bar and the other desktop elements are for resolutions of 1920X1080 or more.
If you want to learn more about Blackbox, I suggest you read my tutorials:
[link] tutorial part I - the shell
[link] tutorial part II - the plugins
[link] tutorial part III - the styles
They are pretty much outdated by now (I MUST find time to bring them up to date... lol) but they will give you a general idea. And, of course, feel free to ask if u need more info or instructions

Now a totally different BB style from your 'usual'. I must admit this is a lot closer to my taste, and turned out beautifully. That's a totally modern look, loving it!

So if I understand correctly, the dock, icons and everything here ( not wallpaper) is made just with Black box? Interesting that it can do all that!!

You understood correctly, Barb. In fact, BB can do a lot more - even gradient wallpapers with chosen colors

dock is also BBI? And what's with those blocks outside the right edge of windows?

I like the media/volume control buttons. Did you use Wingdings or some other font for them?

Keep it up

The base of the dock is BBI, the icons are bbicons. I could do a dock-wharf solely bbi-based, using a technique that allows for different transparent frames one of top of the other, but I went for something simpler and more BB-traditional. With transparent layers you can create almost anything, using graphics (for the present, only BMPs for better results, otherwise you get a magic pink dropshadow. The blocks are my bad: I used Y'Z Shadow for shadow effect but I forgot to turn off ghosting.
The icons are glyphicons, included in the zip file. Thanks for your kind words!

you're welcome

One problem I have with transparent BBI is that if I make some frame background invisible, it becomes unclickable/movable. -.-

pitkon In reply to Rajliv [2011-04-30 08:59:58 +0000 UTC]

Not invisible, my friend, just transparent using NO Style at Window Options. You can move it anytime you want. A trick however, is to lock children

Rajliv In reply to pitkon [2011-04-30 19:20:18 +0000 UTC]

Yeah I meant no style actually. Just tried it again. If I have the frame transparent, I can no longer access its menu. Unless it has something in it - then I can get to menu by right clicking its content (eg text).

pitkon In reply to Rajliv [2011-05-01 08:24:13 +0000 UTC]

I hadn't realize what you were talking about. Now I do... lol. I guess you need to access the menu to add something, right? Well, I rarely use menus anymore. I create a frame or whatever to make it easier and then I go to bbinterface.rc and tweak it by hand. My bbi acts weird sometimes, crashing my box when I need something complicated, so I am quite comfortable with hand editing Try it to add anything you need for the transparent frame.

Hmm yeah, good idea.
I'm just used to mouse - left click to grab, right click for menu.
But learning doing it in notepad could be useful, especially for repetitive tasks. Cloning buttons all the time and then renaming gets tiresome with mouse

pitkon In reply to Rajliv [2011-05-01 15:34:20 +0000 UTC]

I agree about cloning, among other things. You can expedite things using editors like Ultra Notebook (if I remember the name correctly) that can multi copy-paste -something like the similar Word feature, but much simpler and easier to use. Naming clones by hand is one of the things I do using the menus, because I want to use specific names each time and I need to visually acknowledge what each new clone is intended for. It's harder with a text editor, because your hand moves all the time in order to remember with mouse-overs what and where exactly is Label132 or Button668... lol.

Whats black box?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

pitkon In reply to xXFUNSIZEXx [2011-04-29 08:06:52 +0000 UTC]

Blackbox is an alternative shell for Windows or a window manager for Linux, the styles (themes) being interchangeable between the two platforms, something unique in computing
