Description Here's some more background practice disguised as fanart. The focus this time: shallow water. The grass looks a bit messy, but I wanted to give the landscape a sort of rugged feeling, and I gotta say I'm pretty satisfied of the result, especially the water effects, which was the main point~ (I also took the chance to draw the Hylian Tunic, damn I love it I have 3 in different colours)
The place is Thundra Plateau in north-western botw Hyrule, in case anyone wonders. I like how different the landscape there looks, but I don't really see it featured anywhere, so I took the chance to draw it myself

It's nice that this game inspires you practice backgrounds and stuff :'P

The colors of sky and the upper part of this seems little pale overall. The lower part instead is colored just fine. And I don't find the grass messy, it looks very good and the style is fitting to this piece
I personally like a lot how you did the water (the reflections of light specially look nice!), and you did such a great job on Link's tunic - but I do have a little complaint, tho. It is clear that you put time and detail into that tunic, and I feel almost bad that I can't see the detail properly just because you published this in too small resolution. :/

Maybe next you should try tackle the waterfalls from the Faron province? That is one of my favorite places in the game, I love the color scheme there just around the dawn (and you can often see Farosh there very close by, such a cool creature).

given that i've accumulated 100+ screenshots of pure backgrounds from this game alone, i'd say yes, it inspires me to do backgrounds :'D

on the upper part? i was sure it looked too pale in the lower part (courtesy of my shitty scanner), but i didn't want the sky to be too bright in the first place
i've gotcha! i actually put the full resolution file, but i accidentally kept the "1024 pixels wide" setting while submitting the picture, i've gone back to correct it now, so the picture should be full size (i've gotta look into this issue for some of my other pictures...) thanks!

oooh i like that idea. i went there some time ago around dawn and i was smitten by how vibrant the waterfalls and the palm trees look (i even took a picture with the sheikah slate), that's definitely on my to-do list (although farosh doesn't seem to spawn there anymore. i always only see him on lake hylia or gerudo highlands...)

I totally get ya - my Switch screenshot album has over 600 screenshots from BotW, and pretty much all of them are sceneries :'P

And thanks! It's much nicer to look at now, tho I can see that it is quite grainy close-by...is that just the texture of your paper, or something else (like bad scanner)?

i think it's a mixture of both - the paper i use is a bit grainy, and the way my scanner treats it by upping the contrast makes it appear even grainier. i've tried different ways, but the result is always more or less the same >.< (and then it also looks slightly pixelated when you zoom in to the max, but i guess that's because of the size)

Of all the places in Hyrule, This plateau you go through to get to the Rito is probably one of the stangest places i've ever seen in Hyrule, it's got a very mysterious vibe to it despite not really having anything there.

i know! hyrule's geography (despite being a fantasy world) has always been fairly "normal"-looking (you know, it's got trees, mountains, deserts, volcanoes, the sorta stuff you find in rl nature as well), but this?? it's so far-out and strange-looking, i just love its design~ tho i'll admit it's sad that there isn't much to do there aside from that one shrine quest

yea breath of the wild has a lot of empty space in it sadly, entire areas got very little in them, especially the Faron region this time around

Well, technically Botw plays in an post apocalyptic Hyrule. Most of it was destroyed when Calamity Ganon appeared 100 years ago. Most of the people in Hyrule where killed back then. The empty places reflect that very well.
The world just begann to fill with life again when Link awakens after his 100 year sleep.
But the world if far from lifeless. Like the game title says there is a lot of wild life.

Amazing! You did do a good job with the water effects, well done. I really like how bright it is, but still colourful.
