Description Well, here's that very same Ëloo buck in winter. The velvet has been shed and he's polished his antlers nice and sharp for the rut. He's traded in his tawny summer coat for this beautifully dark thing he's wearing and the fur on his neck has grown thick and luxurious.

yes, he's already lost one antler...well, a boy's gotta do what a boy's gotta do *winkwinknudgenudge* that IS what the rut is all about hur hur hur...

ummmmm...obviously, stupid humans just love to hang the heads of these guys over their hearths, but the Ëloos fight back!!! Uh, this guy actually has average antlers, but some eloos have absolutely massive palms (palms are the flat parts) and since their antlers are much harder than the antlers of normal deer, they use them as sheilds XD it's not uncommon to see an Ëloo with holes in the palms of his antlers XD

actually, Ëloos aren't even that common to begin with...actually they're very rare, but that could just be because they're good at hiding themselves.

uhhh... Ëloos ROCK OUT LOUD!!!!

though I really think they need a better plural form of their name...eloos sounds too silly...perhaps it will just be Eloo...I mean, considering all other deer have identical singular and plural forms of their names...seriously! check it out!

Moose not mooses
Elk not elks
Caribou not caribous
Deer not deers

isn't that wild? well, aat least I thought so...

don't worry ^^ all deer loose their antlers in winter, but they grow back in spring and summer. Some deer even lose and regrow their antlers on a biennial (2x per year) basis!

ahhh, it's okay! i'm very patient ^^

as for a testimonial, those how to draw books are a waste of money...the best teacher anyone can have for drawing is themself. of course it's nice to get some tips and techniques from outside sources, but outside sources shouldn't dictate how you draw. I suggest getting lots of photos of animals off the internet to learn from and use for reference. also, live sketching is probably the best tool for getting better at drawing aything! If you have pets, try sketching them, you can also try the zoo, any wild animals you might see, or even a taxidermy shop XD. But while drawing, don't worry about technicallities, keep your eyes on the subjcet and let your hands do all the work. the point of this is to let your hand get used to the countours. Everyone's artistic development is unique, so you need to find out for yourself how to draw, not find out how other people draw

I hope that was helpful!

if you don't want to go looking for animal pictures, I can send you a whole bunch ^^

thank you! and his antler will grow back soon....

but seriously! deer are super attached to their antlers! I mean it makes sense, since the bigger they are, the cooler you are in the deer-world, but upon a study of captive deer, they found that males go into a serious depression when their antlers fall off. I even read one account of someone who took in an orphan deer, but since it had been raised by humans, it couldn't be released to the wild. When he grew up and the rut came about, he bacame super aggressive, so they put a doe in with him to "settle him down" but he pretty much gutted her. the guy went into the pen and the deer tried to kill him too, but with the help of a neighbour, they held the deer down and sawed his antlers off and he pretty much sulked in the corner of his pen for the rest of the season!

awww, can it at least be one of those safari parks where the animals can roam free? I'd hate to see one of these guys cramped in an enclosure....THEY NEED TO ROAM!!!

sorry, well, I'll see if I can find a lazy one...maybe he'll enjoy being in a zoo ^^

A safari park works too. It depends on what zoo you go to! Something like the Miami zoo works fine, those enclosures are pretty big.
