I know... Sand was one of my favorite characters in NWN2... too bad he rarely gets the spotlight.
And thanks!

People go "Long hair = Girl". It's stupid and sexist... Poor Sand xP

Sigh. Tell me about it.
Anyway, the color scheme works, and the hands are impressive, but you may have overdone it with the blurring of the wall. As it stands now, it suggests a moderate distance between the char and the background, which I don't suppose was intended. Cool atmosphere though.
peace

I love the way you did the hands!!!!! Yay Sand! I also love the use of blues, very fitting for a moon elf.

I think something like this happens to each of us, even though I guess some people are more prone to make such assumptions than others.
I remember a few years ago on a summer event our art teacher did for usually younger kids (though there really wasn't a set age limit), where for a week you visit different museums around the area I live. A friend of mine and I, who were both above the average age of that event, but still interested in seeing the museums too, also signed up for the event, which was no problem. The only difference was that being older we were asked to help supervise the kiddies a bit. Anyway, one of the kids was a little kid with shortish hair, of which I only was sure, whom I only recognised as female after I had heard her say goodbye to her parents for the day. Apparently I wasn't the only one having difficulty identifiying the gender of the kid, because one day my friend said, with a confused expression on his face "It's a girl?". I replied "Yes, it is. Don't worry, I had difficulty figuring it out too.". Some kids at that age really look a bit androgynous, especially when they have shortish hair like that one.
So yeah, I guess we all have memories of having difficulty telling a person's gender from their looks at one point or another. And especially in real life, those moments are especially awkward. I mean, it's already awkward asking someone for their name because you have forgotten it *again* (I have a bad memory for names, and need some time getting used to them before I can remember them). How awkward is it to ask someone "Excuse me, are you male or female?".
