Description One huge baby, Antonov 124
Max 150t payload!
It is already that big (try to imagine hehe) but smaller than the An-225

Please note that I am aware of the pictures distorsions but this is the best result I could get from the panorama pictures put together with software.
That thing's too huge for my little camera

I saw that aircraft at the 2011 Joint Services Oper House Airshow. It was placed on the southern end of the west side of the airfield, whereas the C-5 Galaxy was placed on the northern end of the west side of the airfield.

I have seen one of these in MKE several years ago and supposedly they come annually but I always miss it. Do you get Il-76's at your airport?

Thank you!

No... Unfortunately :/
This airport is too small for a huge baby like the 225. Maybe when they will extand the runway in the future as this is planned but I'm not even sure that I have a single chance to see it in Europe

A friend of mine working for Volga Dnper has sent me pictures of the 225 in Luxembourg.
I will work on them so stay tuned

this is SO COOL! love the plane...distortions aren't noticeable if you just look at the small picture ^_^

Heh. Thx stwabewy
When you look at the full view they are noticeable though
But it seems people even appreciate the effect it gives to the aircraft

Miniaturalia In reply to opsidian [2004-09-28 13:12:24 +0000 UTC]

I would love to see the world thru that cockpit as well!
And indeed, the second photo is really showing how huge is that aircraft. And I do not tell you about the feeling you have being so small close to that baby
Too impressive

Thx for the comments!

Pardon my french, but that is one futher-mucking big-ass plane!

A plane that size really is a testament to Bernoulli's Principle!!

Sweet capture... and I think the "distortions" are quite fitting! No complaints here at all...

You should see how small is someone walking close to it, it's amazing

Navyraptor [2004-09-28 00:32:09 +0000 UTC]

Very nice, the distortion actually emphasizes just how huge this thing is.

Miniaturalia In reply to Navyraptor [2004-09-28 13:17:51 +0000 UTC]

Thanks
Distorsion is indeed giving a 'stronger' effect on the pictures.
Anyway, I would have not been able to take pictures so close without the panorama function. So, at the end, I'm glad this effect is being appreciated

These are just wicked pictures man!!!

I didn't know that these birds where landing in Belgium!!! I think I have once to come to Liege.

I'm from Ghent, it isn't that far he . Well, nothing is far in Belgium pp

Just wicked... *keep staring and scrolling*

Miniaturalia In reply to BlueSkyraider [2004-09-28 13:22:40 +0000 UTC]

Heh uh hu, Ghent is indeed not that far, like everything else in Belgium like you said
We are sometimes complaining because we have to drive like 160km to see the sea but this is so small distances compared to other countries

Thank you for your comment.
But if you plan to see that baby in Liege again, I'm not sure when it will happen again as this is very rare to see it here

Thank you explorenorth!
Maybe you would have more luck than us to see the even bigger Antonov 225 then in North America. I would love to see that one.
Thanks again for commenting!
