If Sonic the Hedgehog (a character who appeared exclusively on SEGA systems long before ever appearing on a Nintendo system), can appear as a Smash fighter, I don't see why Rayman (A character who was multi-platform from day one) can't.

Plus, it helps that Ubisoft has already worked with Nintendo and Sora to put Rayman Legends stuff in the game as trophies (with Ubisoft even making Rayman's model for the trophy themselves, answering how to bring the character's latest incarnation into 3D space and saving the designers and modelers some work) If they were already able to get THAT far and successfully work out an agreement with each other, it's very much possible they could work out something to get him in as a full-fledged character.
Being in a Smash Bros game is a huge opportunity to advertise a franchise for years, which I would think is something Ubisoft (and any other game company, really) wouldn't want to pass up.

I'm pretty sure it's confirmed by top scientists that putting a Bunny Hood on any character automatically makes them look a little more adorable.
