It is interesting how many cultures have some sort of creation story associated with water.
The Hopi, for example...

Importance of water in some cultures is prolly defined by the land and climate. I think that the most interesting association is the myth of Great Flood. Common to almost every world's culture.
I heard of Sipapuni, but I'm not sure if there is a photo of this place. As far as I know it's the most sacred place for the Hopis.

It is very sacred...
The Hopi revere it as their place of emergence into--I think they call it--the 4th World.

The photo is an old B+W one.
You have to scroll down almost to the bottom of the page (which is in Spanish)
The Hopi do not want it photographed or even visited as it is such a sacred place,
though, technically, I think all they can do is "request" no photos or visits.
