Description My interpretation of Australian deity - Wandjina. The Wandjina were rain spirits who created the entire world during Dream Time. Even in the rock art they look like aliens
Anyway, focus on the name. Doesn't it sound familiar? Maybe it's just my imagination, but I think that there are many similarities between aboriginal cultures...

By the way, guess who won cybernetichero's competition

Your not supposed to draw it unless you are a selected elder. its extremely bad and ignorant of other cultures

hey, nice picture, but it's very offensive to depict wandjinas if you don't have permission. See: [link]

It is interesting how many cultures have some sort of creation story associated with water.
The Hopi, for example...
Have you ever heard of?...
or seen a picture of the Sipapuni?

Importance of water in some cultures is prolly defined by the land and climate. I think that the most interesting association is the myth of Great Flood. Common to almost every world's culture.

I heard of Sipapuni, but I'm not sure if there is a photo of this place. As far as I know it's the most sacred place for the Hopis.

It is very sacred...
The Hopi revere it as their place of emergence into--I think they call it--the 4th World.
I have a color photo in a book but could only find the following online: [link]
The photo is an old B+W one.
You have to scroll down almost to the bottom of the page (which is in Spanish)
The Hopi do not want it photographed or even visited as it is such a sacred place,
though, technically, I think all they can do is "request" no photos or visits.
