Description This guy's based off my buddy and best doggo Charlie. He got really sick around October of last year, and I thought he wasn't going to make it...so this was to be a memorial. Thankfully, he pulled through! Now it's just a testament to his strength.

I love the little bone accents on his shirt and bag. The details in his jacket and the matching collar and bracelets make for a pretty fun sense of fashion as well.

I'm sorry to hear about your doggo, but that's wonderful that he got better! Pets are such a part of the family, and that makes it so hard to watch when they're suffering in some way.

Thanks! I was definitely going for fashionable with Charley. In fact, I always imagined his clothes were designed by an eccentric designer named Marro, and the bones are his logo, lol.

Yeah...it was pretty scary. But he's amazingly strong--and he's 13! He'll live a good long time, I think.

That’s some pretty detailed world building if you’ve even figured out who designed his clothes! Are you going to draw Marro at some point?

That’s impressive! He’s getting up there in age for a doggo, but it sounds like he’s still quite full of life.

I really want to! He's on that backlog of characters with awesome designs that I somehow never get around to, lol. I already know what he looks like, though: Sho Minamimoto from The World Ends With You.

Like that, but a long-haired chocolate lab.

Oh yes, Charlie's quite excitable for someone with arthritis, lol. Watching him run is just adorable.

Haha, I understand that. I was just talking to a friend about our backlog of character designs we want to get around to drawing, but we're too busy with other things in the meantime.

Wow, that's a really cool design! I can definitely see a character like that being a clothing designer.

That's great! Before my last cat passed on earlier this year, she would seem old and stiff during the day, but as soon as night would come around, she'd start "running laps" and sprint back and forth down the hall as if she were a kitten. Pets can be so cute.

I'm getting an urge to maybe do at least a quick bust sketch of him--better than nothing! It's hard to choose who we spend our time drawing, that's for sure.

And The World Ends With You has tons of great designs! Fun game, too. Not to pile on that ever-growing backlog, lol.

Aw, I'm sorry to hear about you cat...sounds like she was a great pet, though. they bring us so much joy.

Balancing art is very difficult. I have such a long list of things that I want to draw, and deciding which to do is always such a challenge.

I looked it up and that game does have quite a distinct style!

She was quite a sweetie and I was sad to see her go, but she seems to have enjoyed her life, which makes me happy.

So true...it's a struggle sometimes. I was recently considering posting a status update posing the question of what my next project should be, with several options. That might be one way to decide--let the masses do it!

It's tons of fun, too! The battle system takes some getting used to, but it's great once you master it.

Aww, that's the best! It's so nice to know she was happy.

That's a good decision if you're struggling to decide what to work on. Asking in the forums could also be a good idea, and might get more people curious in your art!

Yeah, she was technically a rescue, I suppose. Except rather than my family rescuing her, she sort of rescued herself. She just showed up in the backyard one day and wouldn't leave. After asking around the neighborhood if anyone lost a cat and searching for lost cat notices only to find that no one was looking for her, she became part of the family. She was very well behaved and incredibly friendly around people, so part of me wonders if someone abandoned her. It's sad to think someone might do that, but she acted far too domesticated to be a stray from birth.

Sorry for reminiscing on her.

No, don't apologize! That was a wonderful story. clearly she felt a connection to you and your family. Animals know these things. They can sense good people. On instinct, I think we all know who is best for us to be around.

And your right! The forums are a good place to find intelligent opinions, I find. Lots of thoughtful, friendly people here.

Haha yeah, I've always really liked how his outfit turned out. Thanks so much! I actually had a sweater similar to his that was the inspiration for it.

And he's definitely a big softie sweetheart, just like the dog he's based on.

Lol, Boxer-beagle actually. This is one of those occasions where you can't think up a clever last name, so you just fudge it.

Eh, it's not something I think one can develop a talent for. Either a good name just hits you, or it...just doesn't, lol.

I do like trying to give them a cool meaning though, if possible.

ShieraJacklynSword In reply to PhyloSallas [2019-06-01 06:46:40 +0000 UTC]

Well, some pokemon i can find some original names, like the lugia is named Typhin like typhoon but it sound more feminine, but my OC's... They are just named after their appearance. Like there is the edgy dude called Dark Sword, my fursona wolf whose name is Wolf sword and My slime oc called slime sword.

PhyloSallas In reply to ShieraJacklynSword [2019-06-01 13:44:17 +0000 UTC]

Hey, that works just fine--I've named a few on appearance myself. Hera's last name for example is Blanc, which is just French for white, like her fur, lol. As long as it sounds good and fits, I see no reason why it can't be a simple descriptor. Whatever works, as I like to say!
