Thanks a lot, Clive. Thawing here now and the wind has really got up. I have exchanged a frozen boat for one that keeps banging against its mooring. You just can't win.......

Well it's 15:44 and we have blizzard conditions here ... want some up there ?

photonig In reply to taramara [2010-01-12 16:27:43 +0000 UTC]

We have been forecast more snow, but it is just overcast at the moment, but very windy. I can tell the boat is free of the ice at last, because it is bashing the morrings and spilling my coffee.

Funny. I am a creature of habit. Yorkshire in the morning, coffee at tea time, Yorkshire again in the evening.

Yorkshire is in me, and may be again in a while. Blowing a storm here, and forecast heavy snow.... Bugger!

I'm going to have to try this method. My scanner has a transparency try, but it only handles 35mm and below.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

photonig In reply to pearwood [2010-01-11 23:54:55 +0000 UTC]

You can get scanners to do 120 and up, but they are a fortune. A piece of glass over a lamp to stop the heat getting at the neg, or a neg taped to a window with a with thin white paper on the other side works just as well.

No thanks. It would ruin a decent JD....... Perhaps a piece of cake.

Just shooting the negative reverses to a positive?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

photonig In reply to davincipoppalag [2010-01-11 21:21:58 +0000 UTC]

Not quite. You have to invert it in your software. Most have got the facility. I bet the E500 has.

huh? you can do that? How cool is that. DO you know how many pictures I can save now? We have bins of negatives

photonig In reply to mstargazer [2010-01-11 21:20:52 +0000 UTC]

You can buy little negative scanners for not a lot, but this is more fun. I have been photographing lots of negs that I haven't got prints for. I have found some gems from the past.
