Description 30 DAYS OF BD- DAY 7: Valentina

Origin: Italy

Created by Guido Crepax in the late 60’s, Valentina was a comic that rose to attention due to its dreamlike stories featuring surreal doses of eroticism. Crepax’s style is sophisticated and classy and highly resonates with fashion drawings and a somewhat art nouveau feel.

Your art doesn't get enough views. Mine either.

Ha, no sorry. There were so many choices to choose from.

Besides, I think she's a British character. Maybe I can do a month long british character challenge sometime!

THat'd be good.Β  I'm not too familiar with many British characters, outside of Alan Moore's and Neil Gaiman's stuff.Β  And Judge Dredd, of course.

There's so many characters to be found in 2000AD(where Judge Dredd originated), which is where I'm sure the majority of characters would be coming from. But yeah, definitely a good project to consider down the road!

Yeah, most of the ones you've been showcasing here are familiar to me through the aforementioned Heavy Metal.Β  I'd love to get back to Comicon so I could finish my Keepers of the Maser collection.

Yeah, most of the characters planned have appeared in HM or its french equivalent, Metal Hurlant at some time or another. But there are quite a few that were never featured in there.

I'm not too familiar with that series, but I do know Frezatto's work.Β

I remember that, kind of a weird opposite but similar to Zora...

Neat factoid, found from "Close encounters of the Groovy Kind" a tribute blog to 70s comics, "Starfire" a DC comic not related to the Titans/modern sex puppet character, had an outfit that was near plagiarist of Valentina.Β  The comics artist loved the comic, just couldn't admit he made a tribute to/read that comic openly.

I've seen Zora but never read it. Fernandez' style is really interesting.

Ha, I'll have to look that up!

Here's the link: diversionsofthegroovykind.blog...
The blog is "Diversions of the Groovy Kind"

I have some of the issues that have Zora in it.
Near the complete run of "Starfire" also...

Also, I'm not putting a sword to your head, stuff you know little of or aren't interested I could try to digital paint.Β  Right now locked up in some big project so could use an artistic diversion to keep creative...

I could do Yragel, Vuzz, etc.
Macedo's stuff was my favorite, though not really strong characters, more New Agey combined with rock and aliens, though I loved it.

Cool, thanks for the link!

Yeah, go for it, I'd love to see your take on them!

I've seen some of his stuff, like Psychorock and others. Definitely a huge rock and roll influence in his work.
