Description This photo was taken last year on my trip to Alentejo.
Today I found some photos I´ve taken there here on my laptop and fell in love with this one and a few more that I will probably upload... don´t know yet.

At the end of the day, the sun was saying goodbye on the never ending fields.

Everything was perfect, the sky, the golden reflexions on the grass...

I think it misses someone running around, some soul to it... but this way the sensation of solitude is greater. Not in a bad way, because when I close my eyes and remember that moment... just me and my camera in the middle of nowhere, feeling the warm sun rays on my face and the soft wind on my hair...

... It defenatly was a unique experience. That´s what photography is all about to me.

One tip I find very useful to landscape photography, such a simple way to achieve great photos. Many people ask me how I manage to acheive such dinamic range on my photos. Its simple my friends, use ND filters. The majoroty of landscape photographers already know this easy technique... but here it is once again> [link]

Thanks so much mate... Just practice a lot like I did in the begining.. and then with practice you just need imagination, that is the most difficult and most important part.

Obrigado amigo!

Your works are beyond words to express! If u don't mind, could you u gimme some tips on how u get that matte effect in ur pix & also that special glow with lights... perhaps a guide to the filters used to get these effects. It's absolutely fine if u dont want to expose ur 'trade secret'... was just curious to know how u get these 'dreamy' pix, and wanted to try it myself.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

PhilipMatthews In reply to SeanSkanda [2008-05-27 23:02:11 +0000 UTC]

Thanks mate... first of all you have to know your camera pretty well. Second you have to look at things and try to capture the essence of it. Imagine what people would like to see and capture it. Use different angles, new perspectives, new ideas... create your own stile and master it.

If you like landscape photography, you have to buy some equipment that will help you improve the final results. First a tripod, a big one so if you want to dive it on a lake or something, you can

Second a UV filter to protect your lens from water, sand, wind etc.

ND and GND filters are landscape photographers best friends... use it and abuse it.

A good polarizer is indispensable too... the final colors will become more intense and the water reflexions gone.

And finally a good software to tune up that final detail. The functions I use more are the normal "contrast" "levels" and "sharpen" tools. And now and then a normal color filter to those fashion or architecture photos. Color filters can be also purchased, to fit the lenses but now days you can do it easily on any normal photo editor software.

Basically what you need is to understand what you like about photography and discover a style of your own... then with practice and dedication your technique will improve day by day. I´ve learned a lot here on DA and I´m still learning new things every day.

Cheers
