Yeah I was about to say he looks almost the same. A little more edgy.
As for the curls, I can only think of drawing only the silhouette and add details with colors if any?

Didn't you change his nose a little bit? And his hair style? O:

Nope!
I don't really consider drawing his hair differently a redesign- since his hair is so curly and unruly it's bound to look slightly different : O

I'm almost sure his nose is just a tiny bit shorter and wider and I like his hair style of today. I wish I had hair like that. :3

He's looking so....SHARP.
For curly hair I just draw the outline of the overall shape and then the detail is all in the shading. Like how I draw Anita's hair nintala.deviantart.com/art/Ani…

Yeho. Kaisae is always on point B)
Yeah that's definitely what I'm going to start doing!
I also noticed recently that my curly hair looked weird because I had too many curvy shapes. Without some sharp edges, it all turns to spaghetti. x _ x;

Haha, look at this pretty man :'D -knows that feel of forgetting how to draw characters too ffff-
On simplifying curly hair, I would say try combining the individual areas of curls into their own clumps, like around his sideburns and his bangs. Detracting the detail you see on his profile view may and minimizing them into help a lot too; it may flatten his hair, but the silhouette can still read well. A few scattered stray curls sticking out can be enough to signify the curls.
