Description This is my new tarantula! She's a Chaco Golden Knee, Grammostola pulchripes, one of the friendliest tarantulas in existence! She lets me pet her and hold her for hours! I got her when I went to get crickets a last night. Isn't she gorgeous!

Pretty! Even though I don't exactly like spiders, she's still pretty! And fuzzy ^^

What's her name?

I call her Audacia. Her name means 'courage' in Latin, and it suits her, i think. ^_^

Ive just got a baby 1.5-2 inch leg spam golden knee i cannot wait to see it grow. i really want to teach it to be handled but dont want to stress it out too much, plus its coming up to a molt real soon, its gone all dark.

At that size do you know if the bite would still hurt?? :/

Any size tarantula bite might hurt a little bit, but their bites are nothing to worry about.

Yes she is! And I so agree with you. I have one named Aphrodite. And she's so sweet and gentle.

Aphrodite is a gorgeous name for a tarantula! It's perfect for such a sweet tarantula, too!

Thanks! I named her after Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love who was often described as golden. So that's why I thought it was a good name for my beautiful Chaco golden-knee.

That's really awesome! My twin sister says that if I ever get a G. pulchra that she's naming it either Athena or Apollo. :3

I have a Grammostola spatulata (Chilean red flame tarantula) named Athena. She's very sweet too.

Are you sure this is an Eupalastrus campestratus (Pink Zebra Beauty)?
It looks like a Grammostola Pulchripes (Chaco Gold-knee)

May I ask where you bought it from? Perhaps they got the common names mixed up.

That's what she was sold to me as... but I'm not sure.

I bought it from a pet store in the town where I attend College. It's possible that there was a mixup... They did have an Avicularia sp. labeled as a rose hair...

Yeah... I found out that the petstore had it wrong.

Aww, looks like my Grammi. It's a Grammostola aureostriata, right?

Phantomon2010 In reply to Cyberfish [2011-01-30 06:03:36 +0000 UTC]

I did just find out that she is indeed a G. pulchripes/aureostriata.

Cyberfish In reply to Phantomon2010 [2011-01-30 13:21:42 +0000 UTC]

Hehe. They look very very similar. But G. aureo's are more golden I guess (and you can see some rosy hair in bright light). The main thing is she's healthy.

I have a male one. He's a little naughty boy. [link]

And one little tip: give her some forest soil (up to 20 cm high). They are good little "excavators".

She was sold to me as a Eupalastrus campestratus but I'm waiting for a conformation on the ID.
