as its a sketch i understand how you misunderstood the pose, Jess(top) is holding her own hair out the way, Melody(bottom) has both her arms on the ground. It creates a totally different feeling than how you are seeing it. Sorry for not making it very clear. ;.;
It's cuter without displaying physical contact and if she was holding her head it wouldn't be cute at all. ¬.¬
