Story:
Many, many years ago, the world was ruled by Bathala, king of the gods, and his children, Mayari, the goddess of the moon, and Apolaki, the god of the sun. Their eyes shone brightly over the world, bestowing light upon all Bathala’s creations
But when Bathala died, the sibling gods fought over rulership over the world. Mayari suggested to govern the world together but Apolaki wished to rule the world alone. The two fought with wooden clubs but before long, the sun god overtook his sister, striking one of her eyes.

Feeling pity for his sister, Apolaki agreed to rule the world alongside her but at different times. While they reigned fairly and equally, Mayari’s light, the moon, shines dimly against her brother, for she is blind in one eye.
