I drew this in my sketchbook during the heat that followed the finale when all the Kataangers and Zutarians had their own epic battle over who was meant to be with who. At the time I was definitely already leaning towards one of the pairings but found the anger on both sides to be ridiculous so I thought: TRUCE TIME!!So I made this super happy perky chibi anime-style trio, all happy together.
hooray!!For the record, I do officially and fully ship one of these pairings but I have no issue whatsoever with the other one. I am completely and totally 100% satisfied with the ending, it was pure brilliance. ^____^ (Well in fairness, I rather hated the Maikout scene. But I do not like Mai, and find the pairing to be absolutely absurd and simply nonsensical-- but I won't get into that here.

All the shipping wars are just silly. Personally, I'm not a big Katara fan, so I could care less about who she ends up with. 
Totally agree on Maiko making no sense. It felt like they just paired Zuko up with someone so he'd have a girl in the end. If they wanted the two of them together they should have spent more time developing his relationship with her instead of focusing on him and Katara. (But I like Mai as a character, just not with Zuko.)
Deep down I still have a soft spot for Jinko, even though she was only in that one episode. XD But it was Zuko's first kiss~

I agree. Zuko didn't NEED to be paired up with anyone, nor did Katara. I felt like she was the prize Aang got for beating Ozai, I never felt like she had been in love with him all this time and she was finally able to show it. It just felt forced.
Not everyone needs some romantic relationship. While Sukka is cute, I maintain that the show would have been even better if romance (apart from Aang's older-girl crush) had nothing to do with it at all. Heck, they even tried to give AZULA a boyfriend and that was just.... awkward. For the viewers, I mean.

And I agree. Although I have no idea if the shipping wars still carry on today (I certainly hope not, I'd like to think that every shipper has retreated from the battle so that they can just enjoy their own ship, canon or not), this was a piece I felt I had to complete during the stormy times right after the finale. When it boils down to it, it's just not something worth getting annoyed over. ^__^ I'm glad you like it!

this is so cute i can't bear to make my "pimp, Katara, pimp" joke. sometimes you just have to sit back and soak up the love. great poses, btw, especially Zuko's. it would have been too strange to see him doing a bell-kick

Yay a little Katara, Aang, Zuko Triad, my favorite lol! They look so happy and cute! All three of them are lovely. The colors are so bright and cheery! I couldn't agree with you more about the shipping debate. I thought the final was just beautiful I felt I could just burst with happiness. My only disapointments were (sorry maiko fans) but maiko, and that Yue didn't appear to Sokka again. Your work reminds me that shipping not included, Zuko has found people who love him and except him, all the Gaang have.

Yeah my friend believes there is lots of Maiko evidence if one rewatches the series. I just don't get it though, and even if it's there the relationship is just not would Zuko needs, that's just my opinion though. Speaking of fan writing the finale there is a project here on DA to do so by the Zutara fan community. Kataang Zutara-wise I'm neutral I like like all three of the characters so I didn't mind who became romatically involved in the end.
I love the Ganng loving friendship, it so nice that you're art centers on it.

Yep, the Zutara fan finale project. I'm part of it, actually. I had hesitations about it, because so many of these fan projects never even get off the ground. But when it was revealed that Dante Basco had signed on to reprise his role as Zuko, I was sold. Plus, it's an excuse to animate!
The problem that I foresee with the project, however, is the ambition of the writers/boarders/etc who aren't aware of the amount of production that goes into just one episode. From what I can tell, they're looking to redo the finale in its entirety, which is way too ambitious considering their meager production staff. I signed on specifically so I could animate some nifty Zutara scenes, and I've advised the girl who started it all several times that as it's a project built upon Zutara, the stuff to get finished first needs to be Zutara.
Anyway. Before I completely quash all images you have of my neutrality, I just want to say that I'm not one of those rabid Zutarians who hates Kataang with the power of a thousand suns or anything. I just like Zutara better.

Yeah I have my doubts about Maiko evidence, I'm going to start rewatching the series tomorrow so I will have a close look.
The Zutara project is exciting, but I definitely can see where it might be over ambitious. I bet you will do a great job with the animation I'm looking forward to the seeing the finished piece for sure!
That's good that you're not a Anti-Aang vehemently dislikes kataang. I never understood the whole hate Aang thing. He's such a sweetie. Thanks for all the replies Perishing Twinkle that's really nice of you.

I don't hate or even dislike Aang, but the more I think about it the more I find problems with him as a character. It's one of those things that would be fun to tear apart in an essay, type thing, but it boils down essentially to him being a "Gary Stu". He's a perfect, loved-by-all, all-powerful character who never sacrifices anything to achieve his goals, to whom solutions magically (and often_ present themselves, and whose only flaw is the fact that he has tendencies common in boys his age. Which is probably why Zuko is my favorite character, because he makes up for all the things that Aang lacks-- struggling with moral and social issues, powerful but obviously second-rate, trying to live up to an impossible dream and consistently failing but usually learning from his myriad of mistakes, a deeply passionate character with real, human flaws. He feels more real to me.
Er, that's from a completely Katara/romance-free perspective, I should point out ^__^

I can definitely understand what you mean. Aang is a quite with very few flaws. My "Mary-Sue" and "Gary Stu" radar is usually pretty good, but on the other hand Aang just gets to me in some way. I guess I feel motherly or big sister like towards him. That said he does have flaws that are common to his age group and aren't specific to himself.
Zuko is a great character, I find his story really fascinating, the Prince that no one (except his loving Uncle) wants, (something Aang does very rarely), and who ultimately redeems himself. I loved cheering we discover his good heart very early on so we just wait and hope he'll be able to break free. I was so happy when he joined the Gaang it just felt so right *happy tears*
One of my most loved things about Avatar are the wonderful moments when Aang and Zuko are together. They just seem to be kindred spirits. Zutara would be nice and actually supportive of Aang character, in that he wouldn't achieve everything he hopped for, which he did. I think it would take from the "Gary-Stu-ness" if he lost something, paid for what he was able to accomplish with something. It's really great chatt'n with you pershing twinkle

A truce would be awesome. I actually like both these pairings... they've both got their positives and negatives.
As to Mai though... I used to hate her too. But then I think that they've both changed in the finale, and their relationship has changed as well (for the better, as in it doesn't seem that their relationship is purely physical anymore). So, I guess I'm ok with her now. Somewhat. I don't know. XD
