Haha! I love it! There's just something about your style I love. It's so dang appealing! Maybe it's the colors. D:

Thank you! I really do love experimenting with colors n' stuff. I think I should actually do it more. XD

You're welcome, Brit! Me too, actually! I had a blast working on the splash page for my comicΒ Β I also like colorful characters and playing around with colors to create an appealing palette.Β

Ohh that's awesome, I love the lighting and the texture on the wood floor!

Thank you! The wood was a procedural texture, I'll have to give you the secret soon. Actually, I'm going to make a tutorial on it. It's just basic layering stuff, I learned how to do the stuff in my marker rendering class years ago, but that was with markers. I'll have to upload my old wood rendering from back then, when I get the chance. Photoshop is a little different but it's still just a layering thing and using the right brushes, which I learned from tinkering, honestly. XD Seriously, 90% of what I know about Photoshop came from playing with settings. The class was helpful but it's true what they say about programs; if you play with them long enough you'll figure them out.

Yes plz to give me that secret! I think my biggest weaknesses are drawing objects, textures, backgrounds, and... well, anything other than animals, really. ;D
If you have any tips you'd like to share for that sorta stuff, that would be cool? Btw, do you have a Skype? If so, have I added you on there? (this basically ties in to the pathetically short attention span, ahahah)
I used Photoshop for quite some time, now I use Sai but still, techniques are techniques and it might be a little different in each program, but the basis is still the same. And I totally know what you mean about playing with settings, I love doing that too. Experimenting with stuff is how I learned everything I know when it comes to art. That and tips from other people.

Sure thing!Β fav.me/d6gre6z Backgrounds are a pain, really, unless you really enjoy drawing them. I don't mind them but they're tedious and technical, which is okay but I really love characters more.
Objects and backgrounds are all a matter of good perspective, except for natural backgrounds, which are more organic and less mechanical. Humans are the same as anthro with just different features, really. Sure! I'd love to help out! Though, I'm not the greatest with backgrounds, really but I can give it a whirl! Yep, it's jobforacartoonist. Haha, nope, not yet, you haven't added me unless you're a ninja. Β
Heck, you could even use them together! Sometimes I use 3DS Max and Photoshop together or Illustrator and Photoshop or all three in one big clusterfudge! Yeah, some people don't believe me but it's true. If you play around with things, they become more familiar and easier to navigate. It's like using a map to navigate rather than a GPS. You find your way, rather than being told the way, which leads to actually retaining that knowledge. Problem solving skills are essential for artists. I learned from so many outlets! College courses, tips from instructors outside of class, tips from friends and colleagues, tutorials online, videos in the library, instructional art books and even from some of the pros themselves, like Joe Murray, who really helped me figure out how to go about laying out a comic.

Ohh that tutorial looks cool, I'll have to check it out when I get home from work. I'll also add you on Skype when I get home too. Or you could just add me, I'll accept it when I get on Skype. My user name is Peppermintdemise. (I know big surprise huh? )
Yeah I get what you mean, I get way more enjoyment out of drawing characters than backgrounds. But I do really want to learn, as boring as say, drawing a chair is... I want to be able to do it. And that's cool that you've learned from a lot of different things, I think I should broaden the way I learn art stuff a little more.

Thank you! Sounds great! I added you. :I Mine used to be the same as my DA but I deactivated that account. it was Β
Yep. On occasion I get enjoyment out of backgrounds, like the BG for my latest MiniNova drawing. Yeah, it is an essential skill and I definitely need to brush up on my environments too. Yeah, it helps to look everywhere and learn as much as you can, while you can.Β
