Description Well, when I was playing Yoshi's Island DS, I had started noticing a few things. Oddly, some of the sprites are straight ports from the SNES version (like the koopas). Others are slightly edited, but obviously based on the original game's, and some sprites are just redone or new all together.

Yoshi looks fine for the most part. Something seems off, but fine. But the Shyguys particularly bugged me. They just look poorly done. Their masks look beveled, and not round at all. Their bodies are plump in a way that makes them seem immobile and their animations are stiff. I figured I could draw a better shyguy in 5 minutes.

They got some things right so I based it heavily off of theirs and mix of the old sprite. And in a few minutes I created this. I decided why not make him walk, so I did.

Now I wish I could put my sprite to use in the game... But sadly no.

Yoshi's Island was graphically pleasing in all ways. The sequel is a bit stiff around the edges, and doesnt have the fine polish that the original had. Good sequel, but not a great game by its own standards.

I agree with you. It was easy to spot new enemies from the old. They looked far to cheap and lacked details. The babies were a nice touch but more of a gimmick through the game. I was a bit dissapointed at the end. Getting 100 procent is far to hard and it was too short. Then again I excpected as much as I did for the first one.
