Being against BSL is very important to me. Especially at the fact I have a pitbull myself. So Jasper is the model in this piece.
In case you don't know what BSL is. It's Breed Specific Legislation. It targets 'dangerous looking" dogs. And tears apart families. Back in 2009 Denver murdered almost 4 thousand pitbulls. All of them innocent and family dogs, only a thousand were in the shelters. Basically it's dog racism. Pitbulls are not dangerous. They're very sweet dogs

I have had people tell at me and insult me for my love of Pitbulls AND Rottweilers. And they got even angrier when I said I wanted a mix of the two. Because they look dangerous doesn't mean they are. I mean my friend has a pitbull amd she's so lovable and sweet. I don't get why they're so dangerously classified...

Pitbulls were labeled as dangerous because someone didn't like them and claimed to be viciously attacked by a pitbull. And people believed it. And sadly that "dangerous" factor encouraged people who dog fight to do just that.

Actually the law is working.. Majority of people know that pits aren't vicious. However it's the states and even PETA who are enforcing this. It still effects pitbulls today. People want to pretty much eradicate the breed. Just for looking the way they do. They ignore the studies proving that pits actually have MUCH better temperaments than Labradors, Golden Retrievers, and Corgies. But the media still want to make pits look horrible. Same with PETA.

It's because of a rumored dog bite, they spread about saying it was from a pitbull. It's the same case with pot. Because one person didn't like weed and wanted people to stop, he saw a Mexican and was like "I don't like Mexicans, I don't like weed. HEY EVERYONE WEED IS SMOKED BY CRIMINALS!" Thus weed becoming illegal till recently. But Pitbulls are basically in the same situation.
