Description 'In the morning she woke, and rejoiced in the light as one first called to life; and all things that she saw seemed to her new and strange, and she had no names for them. For behind her lay only an empty darkness, through which came no memory of anything she had ever known, nor any echo of any word. A shadow of fear only she remembered, and so she was wary, and sought ever for hidings: she would climb trees or slip into thickets, swift as squirrel or fox, if any sound or shadow frightened her; and thence she would peer long through the leaves before she went on again.'

Much appreciated my friend. I toyed with the idea of portraying more of her body, but liked the framed composition this way in the end.

So beautiful! I love your interpretation of this character, her expression and her beautiful features. I think this is one of the best depictions of Nienor that I have seen, you've captured  her very  well!  I  like also the details on the background and the composition , the soft and bright colors of the painting. Everything is beautiful and accurate

peet In reply to Brunild [2015-08-17 15:13:01 +0000 UTC]

That's a high compliment indeed, as Nienor has been portrayed fairly frequently and indeed very nicely by many artists - so thank you! She should indeed be a beauty like her mother I think (and indeed her brother), but I also tend to picture her as somewhat sturdy and thick-limbed like her father too As for the accuracy of the tree, this is the benefit of photo reference I suppose Much obliged Brunild !

Brunild In reply to peet [2015-08-18 09:31:22 +0000 UTC]

My pleasure ! !  Thanks again for this beautiful depiction of the character, I really fascinated by this story!  I think that the Childrens of Hurin is the most touching and sad episode of the Silmarillion.
