That's very depressing. I've seen pieces of art like this, normal it's Steven who's the sole of whatever homeworld onslaught that brought the Crystal Gems to their knees, and that makes sense because he's main protagonist, the one we know the most about, the one where expected to sympathize with the most, in addition to being the youngest. It only to be expected that in a situation that calls for a character to slain, he is to survive. Here, he is shown to killed along the others, several years of character development rendered pointless in only 100 frames of animations. In his pace, Pearl survives, the eldest member of the Crystal Gems, who, while still beloved by many people, is far more mysterious than Steven, her backstory only shown in shreds across the show. This is about the same as seeing the Transformers movie and Hot Rod or Bumblebee dying in Optimus' place, the character we been told is so important snuffed out in mere seconds.
It"s arguably far more tragic than the protagonist being the sole surviver.

I mean fair enough, I don't expect them all to be dead, but i thought that if anybody would survive it would be Steven. Plus, he would have lost all his guardians in one moment and he would feel useless because he couldn't protect them... now isn't that way sadder? Because I think it's way sadder.
