Using this angle with realism really makes it seem he was on a stool with a court painter painting him, unknowing to him it was a future wanted poster.

Yup, quite a bit.
I tried to make an impresion of how he'd look like as a real person. But i'm far from achieving realism.

Skin textures would help and a couple of repositions on his facial structure. Avatar is quite good with face proportions as far as anime goes (and it IS Anime) . Redefine the ears too and you've got a winner!
