A lot of people just look at the stone and colors. I like to actually research the stones themselves. Hematite is slightly magnetic in properties and when polished it has a distorted mirror look to it. I also felt that in order for her to not be overpowered I needed to make her a smaller more spindly Gem. So I tried to make her even more bird like than Pearl. XD Since Hematite is also a metal like stone I wanted her to seem cold and unyielding. i hope she came across as all these things. X3

Afraid other than her and her partner Pyrite's designs I have not made any backstory or anything.

My focus is mostly on my Onyx.

Yeah you definitely hit those strides! And when I used to make gems... I actually just focused on a character and just had the gem as ok it'll be based around this. I made a separate world for them to exist in that warranted a kind of over powered-ness. It was basically... they can completely body the gem's planet or earth by.... just having like one of these guys... but where they were from, it still wasn't enough they stilled died constantly . So my gems didn't look like traditional gems that someone would make. In fact thats what inspired the rest. Like here are some of my gems (Keep in mind these are really old and very meh...)        so yah... now I wanted to try being more faithful though... I still like the idea of them being in a different world thats not the gem's home or earth but yeah. If ya want I could show you when thats done but yeah.. my gem designing was kinda weird CX

Well. The Homeworld has many colonies. So who is to say they didn't have one in a region of space that was much more inhospitable so they had to experiment making Gems that were more adapted to the harsh environment. Thus making these Gems have a more utilitarian appearance to their surroundings instead of Homeworld's prefered cosmetic looks. So your Gems are more Function over Form where the pretty Homeworld is Form over Function.

Besides Hematite, Pyrite, and their fusion Magnetite's old designs were more similar to your Gems than the show. So nothing wrong with a taking a bit of artistic liberty or.a little update to designs once in awhile. X3

Also since there will be many Gems that are similar and some not so similar of the same gems. I don't mind if someone makes their own based on mine. As long as I am linked back as inspiration. OwO

oh well the thing about where they're from..., haha... I was a liiiiittle to obsessed with nuclear throne CX when ever they died or cracked there, they would be reborn in a similar but alternate universe of the place lol. The only thing I regret is that, It could've actually gotten better, like I remember having an idea for the big bad "I rule this world" and his two loyal servants. One looked like a body of fire with to super long and big like... snakes of fire that he sent out and controlled, mixed with his crazy temperature and yeah and funny enough I was gonna call it pyrite. The other was zircon and its was this... sort of mix of a vicious looking entity/cyborg... project looking thing and its face open by moving forward from its head where it would release mist that would eventually freeze over places. these things would just messed things up , like even if you managed to get the edge on them, they would fuse and start launching plasma all about. Thats just among my many ideas I had which I might ice box or I might try to make them work how they initially where supposed to cause I think if I went the full mile I couldv'e made something of it, but at the same time I felt kinda silly making a little story of a series. Its not the worst idea since it'd be pretty distant than what said series has already done but still. I'm in the middle of making my own story so I guess I'd just make little details and thats it. But who knows. And I just meant the kind of.... refernce sheet you used when I said I was basing it off this. But ye I wouldn't mind my ideas and what not
