I took one RAW exposure in the field and converted to 5 exposure levels before using Photomatix.

You can use a JPEG as well. It just may not contain as wide a tonal range as the RAW format.

What a great rendition. The vanishing point reminds me of Van Gogh's "The Night Cafe". In fact, the post-work on this makes it look like a painting.
