Description A little something I whipped up real quick during my Keroro Gunsou (Sgt. Frog for Westerners) phase back in 2009. I found the friendship between three of the main characters really adorable, so I had to draw it. So here you have (from left to right) Keroro, Giroro and Zeroro when they were just kids, returning home after playing in the park, wondering about their future as space invaders. I have to admit I haven't really read the manga series; I've mostly watched the anime, and I absolutely love the movies!

I kinda messed up their heads here a bit, especially Zeroro's. It was my first time drawing them, so I didn't have the style quite down yet. I hope some of you will enjoy this regardless.

EDIT: Following some feedback, I've slightly modified the line of the road to make it less flat than it was previously. Thank you Pharaoh-Ink for pointing it out!

Muched love pic. I love how you got Giroro looking up. He is so cute as a little polliwog.

I think the style is pretty close, and even if it's not exact, it just means it's stylized and more unique that way! Artistic freedom, after all. You did a lovely job, I think. I like the perspective, and the body language of each is just perfect. It's so wonderful to meet another fan.

If I may, and I am by no means an authority on the matter, but the ground they're standing on looks a bit strange. I mean, I love the color, and the grass is really cute, but something about the flatness seems a bit off. Maybe rounding it just a tad might help the illusion of depth in the road, I'm not sure. It might just be me that's off. I don't mean any offense to you! XD

Awww, thanks! I did try to portray each's personality through their movements, so I'm glad to hear I managed that. I'm still a pretty big fan of the show, although it's been a while since I've watched any of the episodes.

And I completely agree with you! The road indeed looks flat, and having rounded ends would definitely help with the perspective. I actually made the sketch and ink on a horizontal paper, since my initial intent was to have the picture wider than longer. However, as I started colouring, I realized it didn't quite work with what I had in mind, so I modified the size via Photoshop to have it longer on the vertical scale. What I forgot to take into account was that the ground would no longer work with that sort of perspective; to be honest, I did find it sort of weird to look at after having made the changes, but couldn't figure out why.

Since this is a rather old picture (the initial sketch and ink was done in 2009) I don't feel like it's absolutely necessary for me to make this fix. But thank you very much for your feedback; that's what I'm hoping to get from fellow viewers and fans! It's a good thing you pointed my error out, so then I can learn from my mistakes. I'll definitely keep that detail in mind for future projects.

You did indeed!

Oh, well that makes perfect sense, actually! It was a good decision to go vertical though.

Oh of course, I can understand that, and it's really not that huge of a deal, it's nothing that takes away from it. Are you planning to make more Sgt. Frog art sometime?

I actually have a character sheet of Dororo (which includes expressions, body angles and some of his outfits) dating back from early 2010 that I started inking, but haven't finished yet. I also started Keroro, but haven't done more than 40% of the sketch. I was planning on doing the entire platoon, although I'm not sure when I'll get to the others. If you have an interest in them, I might get on to that sooner than planned. I also have a "montage" sketch done for the third movie that I want to complete soon (I just have to find it amid all of my papers XD), and a sketch of a scene for, I think, the fourth japanese opening of the show. Other than that I don't have much in the works concerning Sgt. Frog at the moment, but I might come up with something else in the future.

That's quite a bit though, I do hope to be able to see them in the future! It seems like the Sgt. Frog work has slowed down a bit, I haven't seen very many new pieces for it. Granted it is a bit older though. D:

Yeah, it's been around for a while. And I think the Sgt. Frog franchise itself hasn't been up to much lately, hence the slowdown. That's probably why I haven't been very productive myself concerning the fandom, since I have nothing to keep my hype up for it. XD
It's always nice to meet a fellow fan, though! I have a few finished - but unrelated - projects coming forward in the next few days, but once those are done I'm going back to my Sgt. Frog character sheets and fanart. You can look forward to those soon.
